OUR VISION STATEMENT
“And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.” – Acts 2:42 (English Standard Version)
The purpose of Trinity Presbyterian Church of Northern Kentucky is to fulfill the biblical mandate to disciple the nations (Matthew 28:19), as the covenant people of God, by and through the steadfast use of the ordinary means of grace (unmerited favor), i.e. devoting ourselves to the apostles teaching, the fellowship, the breaking of bread and prayer (Acts 2:42).
The Apostles Doctrine
Worshiping God in spirit and truth: Since the triune God (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) alone is worthy of man’s sacrifice of praise (Hebrews 13:15), Trinity Presbyterian Church of Northern Kentucky will worship God in spirit and in truth (John 4:24).
Preaching the gospel: Trinity Presbyterian Church of Northern Kentucky will proclaim the death, burial, resurrection and ascension of Jesus Christ, in whose name alone is the forgiveness of man’s sin and the reconciling of men to God, through the reading and preaching of the whole counsel of God as is found in the 66 canonical books of the Bible (Acts 20:27).
Standing for God’s truth: Because God has ordained the church, His Household, as the pillar and foundation of the truth (I Timothy 3:15), Trinity Presbyterian Church of Northern Kentucky will unashamedly witness to God’s truth in our words and actions, in fulfillment of Ephesians 2:10 which reads, “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.”
The Fellowship
Living in fellowship with one another as a Covenant Community: Recognizing that those who have God as their Father will be united to His household, the Church of the Living God; Trinity Presbyterian Church of Northern Kentucky will live together in unity, preferring others before ourselves as Christ teaches in the second great commandment, “…love your neighbor as yourself.” (Leviticus 19:18, Matthew 22:39)
BREAKING OF BREAD
The right and diligent use of the Sacraments of the Church: Jesus Christ instituted two sacraments, Baptism and the Lord’s Supper, for the Church whereby grace is bestowed upon the Church with these signs and seals of God’s covenantal relationship with His people (Acts2:41-42).
PRAYER
Giving ourselves to unceasing prayer: Knowing that God desires to use the prayers of His children to give us all good things, and God’s word directs us to pray continually, Trinity Presbyterian Church of Northern Kentucky shall not neglect the great privilege of entering boldly into God’s presence with our petitions, remembering that if we have not received, it is because we have not asked, or that we have asked amiss. (1 Thessalonians 5:17; James 4:1-2, 5:16)
OUR BELIEFS AND CORE VALUES
Our Church is committed to the centrality of the Bible, the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments, as our only rule for faith and practice. We believe that the one true and living God has revealed Himself in Jesus Christ and through the Scriptures – the Holy Bible. Thus, it is our mission to faithfully declare Jesus Christ and the scriptures to all men as ambassadors of the God-man Jesus Christ. This commitment to Jesus Christ and the Holy Scriptures permeates all that we do, especially our worship. We believe that the worship of God is the highest calling of the Christian and that it must be done according to Christ’s instruction to worship “in spirit and in truth” (John 4:24). With this understanding, we have endeavored to fashion our worship to focus on God and His Word, not on man. Our worship has certain elements that we believe the scriptures teach are necessary for true worship. Those elements include: reverent humble prayer, the reading of scriptures with Godly fear, the sound preaching of the Word, the singing of psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with grace in the heart and the proper dispensing and receiving of the sacraments (Baptism and the Lord’s Supper).
We believe that men are dead in trespasses and sin and must turn to God by faith, trusting in the sacrificial death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. When true faith is exhibited, men turn from rebellion against God and His Word, to a life of ever increasing obedience to the Word of God. Jesus said, “If you love me, keep my commandments (John 14:15).” Elsewhere Jesus said, “Take My yoke upon you and learn of Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden light (Matthew 11:29-30).” When men learn to follow Jesus by faith, their personal habits change, their families change, their business practices change, their communities change, their nation changes and ultimately the world changes. These changes are for the better as they are brought into conformity with the revealed will of God.
